Situation
A long-term transformational plan for a well established school.
Hebron Christian Academy in Gwinnett County, Georgia (Atlanta metro area), acquired over 30 acres adjacent to their existing campus property. They needed a new master plan that would take the additional land into account. Hebron’s leadership team reached out to Storyland Studios for help digesting current needs and determining solutions for the campus.
Storyland conducted a BlueSky session with Hebron’s leadership team, which revealed the many master planning and spatial storytelling possibilities available to their school. This strategy session helped Hebron’s team think about their campus in a completely different way, opening up new creative ideas and opportunities for the school’s future.
Solution
The Big Idea: The Lions Court
In the heart of Gwinnett County, Hebron Christian Academy rises not merely as a school but as a proud family. They’ve long forged a welcoming place that encourages students to shape the future through leading with purpose.
Storyland Architecture created a detailed master plan of what the campus could be. Ultimately, the design transformed Hebron’s previous ten-year plan. Our team conducted a brand expansion workshop with Hebron, inspiring them to think about their existing brand from a fresh perspective. The leadership team decided to focus on building a new high school facility as their next big project, followed by a number of priorities we will implement in phases.
Transformation
Future transformations for the Hebron Christian Academy campus.
In addition to the new high school building, near-term improvements will include additional parking and entrances, new signage throughout the campus, refreshed placemaking, outdoor hangouts for students, and a new school sign.
In the mid-term, more infrastructure will be built around the campus to relieve traffic congestion. Plans include refreshed building facades, cross-country trails, campus expansions, relocating the gym from the second campus to the main campus, photo-op placemaking spots for students, and more.
Long-term master planning priorities include condo development on the second campus property, gym renovation, constructing a new indoor field house for various sports, indoor tennis courts, additional field adjacent to the football field, more turf, further tiered seating for the soccer field, a new pre-K/Kindergarten building, and a new student center.
