SITUATION
Red Sea Global is shaping a new standard for luxury resorts set against extraordinary natural landscapes. With ADRENA, the aim was to create an entirely new category of destination where adventure, enrichment, and calm coexist across a single coastal site. Red Sea Global appointed Storyland to deliver a comprehensive, integrated scope of work: master planning, landscape design, water features, pools, hardscape, and all specialist attraction components from concept design through IFC, including show elements, theming, and props.
Spanning 17 hectares of shallow coastal flats along the Red Sea, the vision was bold: a story-driven resort blending extreme sports, immersive exploration, and relaxed luxury, all while honoring the delicate ecosystem surrounding it. The challenge was uniquely creative, perfectly suited for Storyland’s team. The destination needed to feel unmistakably world-class yet organically rooted in its environment, as though it had emerged naturally. It called for seamless coordination across landscape, attractions, theming, and infrastructure, delivered entirely within a 16-month time frame.
SOLUTION
Storyland’s work culminated in a full attraction and theming package. We shaped a unifying narrative around three realms of experience: Mind, Body, and Spirit. Curated snorkel trails and a deep-dive pool encourage discovery rich with story. Adrenaline is channeled through Saudi Arabia’s largest wave pool alongside cliff jumping, rope courses, and a skatepark. And calm moments for connection are found under peaceful cabanas, within lush canopied groves, and where the sand meets the sea.
A design language inspired by coral formations, natural materials, and the sea’s maritime heritage ensures every element, from signature shade structures evoking traditional dhow vessels to wayfinding crafted from repurposed forms, feels native to the site. The entire project was developed within a fully coordinated BIM model in Revit, delivering 100% of the area development and utilities package within a single integrated environment. Above-ground elements and below-grade infrastructure were modeled in tandem. Utility piping was routed across 40 acres of coastal terrain among 2,000 individually sited trees, each mapped as a root ball with projected canopy and root growth to ensure clearance. This three-dimensional approach gave the client full visibility into buried systems and enabled contractors to route infrastructure with precision, while maintaining efficient coordination across all project partners.
TRANSFORMATION
ADRENA establishes a new paradigm for destination design, one where narrative, landscape, and technical precision converge to create an environment that doesn’t simply welcome guests but truly immerses them in a living story of discovery, renewal, and adventure.
The destination demonstrates how large-scale entertainment can be delivered sustainably, incorporating dark-sky compliant lighting, wildlife-sensitive illumination, low-impact stormwater systems, and renewable energy integration. Every design decision balances world-class ambition with environmental responsibility.
Completed within an ambitious 16-month program, the project reflects the collective expertise of Storyland and RMJM, and a close-knit team of specialist subconsultants, including EXP, TBG, Cloward H2O, Myrtha Pools, CD+M Lighting Design Group, Foster + Partners, and D.D. Pagano, Inc, alongside subcontractor Endless Surf. In addition to master planning and landscape architecture, Storyland delivered the full attractions package, spanning high-adrenaline activities and immersive underwater experiences, bringing every element of the experiential program to life.
More than an adventure resort, ADRENA offers a model for how story-driven placemaking can shape destinations that feel both iconic and inevitable, where the built and natural worlds become inseparable and guests leave transformed by the experience of place itself.
